Hello Kayocity friends, I want to share a special story with you all - how Kayocity Kreations got its name. It's a quirky tale of overcoming creative blocks, relying on modern technology, and finally landing on a name that feels just right.
The year was 2020 - a year that will be remembered for many reasons, the least of which was not the birth of Kayocity Kreations. It all started with an idea, a vision to create something unique, something that would reflect my personality and passion, but as with all things creative, I hit a wall even before I could begin - naming this brainchild of mine.
It all started with a cricut!
As creators, we all experience it at some point – the dreaded creative block. It's like being stuck in quicksand; the more you struggle, the deeper you sink. I knew I wanted it centered around my name, but Kayla is not a very unique name. Anyone would be surprised to find that there is a LOT of Kayla's Crafts business names and other variations of that name. I wanted to stand out from the rest.
I discovered online name generators, computer algorithms designed to produce creative names based on inputted key words. It was a fascinating concept, and I decided to give it a try. Interestingly enough, even the generator could not come up with a lot of options that were original.

After a while of trying out different keywords with my name and scrolling through the dismal options, one popped out at me, Kayacity Creations. Hmmm, that one was definitely unique. Kayacity rhyming with tenacity didn't quite hit home though. A little thinking and playing around later and it clicked. Change the A to an O and bada-bing bada-boom, Kayocity that sounds like chaos with "ity" at the end was born.
One of the first Logos.
The suffix 'ity' is defined as the quality, state, or degree of something. So Kayocity Creations meant the quality of Kayla's creations. I fell in love. Then I changed the C to a K just because I like it when things are spelled wrong to be quirky and hey, it fit the K theme.
I felt a surge of excitement as I realized I had found the name. Kayocity Kreations. It was unique, it was catchy, and it encapsulated everything I wanted my business name to represent. It felt right. It felt like me.

Looking back now, I realize that the process of coming up with the name was a journey in itself. It was a journey of patience, persistence, and a dose of creativity. It was a journey that taught me the importance of not settling for anything less than what feels right.
After a small -buy a house and have another baby- break, Kayocity Kreations could grow past a name and an idea and started to become more focused. I was inspired to start selling my newest Kreations in the Fall of 2023 and quickly dived in.
The logo evolved as my art took a focused turn.
In just 5 months Kayocity Kreations has become a Facebook page with 250+ followers and launched a webstore. I had my first few craft shows and learned a lot quickly. I put out two new products in addition to the original art, and designed a coding system to catalog the Vintage Volumes that I use in my art.
Which brings our story current, to the newest Kayocity Kreation, The Art of Chaos, my new blog! This story is the first post to my blog, one that began with a creative block, a technological nudge, and the trust of a good feeling. It's a story I hope will inspire you, whether you're starting your own business, rebranding, or simply looking for a bit of motivation.
Remember, every great creation starts with an idea, but it’s the journey of bringing that idea to life that truly makes it special. Here’s to many more years of creating, growing, and evolving with Kayocity Kreations!
